Figures in this triptych refer to Hydra or Lernaean Hydra, a
many
headed monster in Greek mythology. Killing the Hydra proved to be quite
a challenge, as more heads would grow back whenever one was cut off.
Rainier Wolfcastle stars in the first of the Simpson’s triptych.
His massive bulk and Austrian accent so obviously parody a major public
figure that we don’t even have to tell you who it is. Best known as the
star of the “McBain” series of action films, Wolfcastle now dons eight
heads and is observed by a flock of Sherri and Terri figures. The story
continues with portraits of Moe and Lunchlady Doris, other strong
personalities in the Simpson’s series.
Cavalieri is representing UrbanGlass at SOFA Chicago this November 5-7, 2010, where this panel will have it public debut.
